Eat, Pray, Love

Book 9 of 52

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

I was a bit skeptical, due to the hype, but my SIL insisted it was a 'must read.' I thoroughly enjoyed Liz's romp through the three I's (Italy, India, Indonesia) and I recognized the character even if I didn't identify with her all that much. We all have *that friend.* The story-book ending was a bit much, I thought, which perhaps is why the tale is so popular. Chicks love a happy ending.

No lie, I have been "reading" this one for um.... 5 months? Maybe 7? I don't think I will ever finish either this one OR Bel Canto.

I am playing with shelfari these days to track my reading. They have some people doing 50 book challenge variations. I am just logging my books on my shelf as I read, in date order.

Miss you!

Now check out the other side, okay another side, of the gender coin--read Elizabeth Gilbert's The Last American Man. Or have you? It's a profile of Eustace Conway, a guy who flips the bird at his suburban upbringing and goes to live off the land in North Carolina's Appalachians. If Eat, Love, Pray will grant me new(?) insight into the desires of a 30 something American woman--will it?--then TLAM might offer you a glimpse into some of the demons burdening certain American men.
And Beth, thanks for the great holiday card. The kids look great in their construction paper crowns.
